Watch the video playback of the Webinar panel, "Offshore wind energy on California’s Central Coast. What you need to know," hosted by the SLO Tribune and examining the impact to Californians of federal and state government plans to open 376 square miles off California’s Central Coast to floating offshore wind turbine development. The USC Schwarzenegger Institute hosted a Webinar on its new report, "California’s Offshore Wind Electric Opportunity," examining the economic and environmental impact of developing 10 GW of offshore wind power for the Golden State. The online briefing highlighted the bipartisan backing, broad support and significant benefits of offshore wind power, with speakers including former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former California Senator Fran Pavley, California Energy Commission Chair David Hochschild, California Assemblymembers David Chiu and Laura Friedman (authors of legislation to jumpstart the state’s offshore wind industry), Aker Offshore Wind Senior Vice President Jonah Margulis, Brightline Defense Executive Director Eddie Ahn, Operating Engineers Local #3 District Representative Jeff Hunerlach, and report authors Research Professor Adam Rose and Research Associate Professor Dan Wei of the USC Price School of Public Policy.
