U.S. East Coast Offshore Wind – Recent Court Rulings & Project Status (February 2026)

In December 2025, the U.S. Interior Department ordered stop-work and lease suspensions on five major U.S. East Coast offshore wind projects. All five developers challenged the decision in court. In January and February 2026, federal courts have now ruled – 5 for 5 – decisively in favor of the offshore wind projects.

The U.S. East Coast now has more than 6 GW of offshore wind installed or on track for installation by 2027.
